TRAINING RUNS

During the cycling season (April - September) the club regularly meets at least three times per week as follows :

Tuesday 19:00 at Bellsdyke Rd, Larbert

This is a steady paced training run of 20 - 25 miles concentrating on technique and group riding. Members new to cycling at pace and in a group might find it useful to attend one or two Tuesday sessions and/or a few Sunday runs prior to attending a Thursday session.

Thursday 19:00 at Bellsdyke Rd, Larbert

This is a hard, fast training session consisting of 3 x 8 mile circuits around Airth and surrounding areas. This takes an APR format which typically consists of 4 groups, with the fastest setting of last. We have in the region of 60 riders attending from all over Scotland.

Saturday 9.30 at Bellsdyke Rd, Larbert and 10.30 at Denny Cross

These runs are steady paced aimed with an average distance of around 40 miles. These are very popular with novices. So far we have had a huge turn out of new riders at these events.

Sunday 10:00 (NEW TIME) at Station Hotel, Larbert.

This is the regular Falkirk BC Sunday club and training run. The group usually split into two. The club run is steady paced with an average distance of 50-70 miles at around 15 - 17 mph. The training run is used by those members who wish to challenge themselves further and may want to race. Riders are encouraged to return to the Station Hotel for food and drink afterwards and the friendly banter.

Winter Season

During the off-season(October - March) the regular Sunday runs continue as above at a slightly more leisure pace; the training run keeps a higher pace aimed at those who want to build up for the forthcoming season. Both runs will meet at The Station Hotel afterwards. The Tuesday and Thursday runs reconvene in the spring.
